Focus on 2025
A new year begins and with it new horizons emerge for the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park. In the midst of the charter revision and with the will of the member communities, the Park intends to renew its commitments but also consolidate its ambitions for sustainable development of the territory taking into account current environmental and social issues. A desirable future that should be imagined together, by associating elected officials, partners and residents, in order to ensure a renewal of the Regional Natural Park label during the year 2027.
In parallel with this work, the Park continues its actions to preserve and promote the natural, cultural and landscape heritage of Périgord-Limousin. Many highlights have already been announced for the year 2025:
JANUARY | Launch of the vulnerability diagnosis to climate change
In 2024, the Park addressed local issues of adaptation to climate change. To consolidate the thinking around this new mission, the Park is launching a vulnerability diagnosis of the territory, the aim of which is to better understand the impacts of climate change in Périgord-Limousin and to estimate our ability to act together. The results of this study will be published in the spring.
FEBRUARY | Inauguration of the “water model”
The interactive model of the watershed, created on the initiative of the Park to raise public awareness of water-related issues, will be inaugurated at the beginning of the year on the occasion of World Wetlands Day.
FEBRUARY | Application for the “Starry Territory” label
As part of its missions related to the preservation of the night-time environment, the Park will submit its application for the “Territoire étoilé” label in February. Obtaining this label requires that 2/3 of the municipalities in the territory, representing at least 50% of the population, be labeled “Villes et Villages étoilés” and therefore commit to a real approach to reducing light pollution. MARCH-APRIL | Exhibition “a la crotz daus chamins / at the crossroads”
Designed by the Park and the Experimental Center of Crafts, this exhibition will present the work of the 9 professionals of the crafts, welcomed in residence in 2024 to promote the intangible cultural heritage of Périgord-Limousin (Occitan culture, crafts, landscapes, etc.) on the itinerant "The great loop of the Park, Vaque Veire". The exhibition will highlight the creative process, the inspirations and the final proposals resulting from this residency. Learn more
APRIL | “Habitability” Territorial Residence
The Massif Central Regional Natural Parks are currently conducting joint work to reflect on the habitability of rural areas. To fuel their thinking, 5 working sessions are scheduled in the presence of residents and local stakeholders in the Parks' territories. The aim of these meetings is to fuel reflection on the issues of living well together, cooperation between territories, welcoming new residents and the "desirability" of rural areas. In Périgord-Limousin, Champagnac-la-Rivière will host this residency from 4 to 6 April. Learn more
APRIL-JUNE | “Spring without a lawnmower” campaign
For the 2nd consecutive year, the people of Périgord and Haute-Vienne will be invited to put down their lawnmowers for the duration of spring. From March 21 to June 21, the inhabitants of the Park are encouraged to let nature flourish in their gardens, in order to encourage the presence of wild pollinators, essential for the pollination of orchard plants, fruits and biodiversity as a whole. This campaign is part of the European LIFE Wild Bees project. Learn more
SEPTEMBER | Exhibition on the Park’s artisanal built heritage
On the occasion of the Heritage Days, the inhabitants of the Park will be able to discover the industrial and artisanal built heritage of Périgord-Limousin through a new photo exhibition, enhanced by pop-up artistic work. Learn more
CURRENT 2025 | Training in EPHAD

END 2025-EARLY 2026 | Public inquiry on the draft charter
After extensive consultation work carried out in 2024 with residents and partners, the new draft charter for the 2026-2041 Park is currently being drafted. The document should be submitted to a public inquiry in late 2025-early 2026. The procedure will allow everyone to express their views on the project again, before the charter is adopted by the municipal councils in 2026. Learn more
