Food is gaining importance.

The Territorial Food Project of the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park recently received Level 2 recognition from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Food Sovereignty. Level 2 recognition for a Territorial Food Project attests to a comprehensive approach to food issues and the coherence of the actions undertaken. It ensures that projects have positive and complementary impacts on all food-related issues, whether economic, health-related, social, or environmental. This is significant recognition for the work carried out in the region since 2017 and for our cross-cutting approach to food.

This recognition and the grant obtained will allow the Park to continue its activities. Among them is the " My Neighbor the Farmer " program, which allows local students to discover the daily life of a farmer and better understand the links between agriculture, landscape, and food. The Park will also continue to support managers of institutional food services , particularly school cafeterias and retirement homes. This initiative has already enabled more than twenty school cafeterias to benefit from personalized training, encouraging them to use more local and seasonal products ( learn more ) in their menus. Awareness campaigns for all audiences, the creation of educational tools , and efforts to combat food insecurity are also planned. Furthermore, the Park's Territorial Food Project (level 2) aims to facilitate vulnerability assessments of farms in the face of climate change . Finally, specific support will be offered to elected officials for projects aimed at preserving agricultural land.
