Natural environments

Périgord-Limousin benefits from the Regional Natural Park label for its rich flora and fauna, here are some examples, through the characteristic environments of the territory.

The forest

In Périgord-Limousin, the forest occupies 68 ha, or 000% of the Park's territory. These are essentially deciduous forests, the main species of which are oaks and chestnuts. This wooded network is a true biological corridor for many large mammals.

Wetlands

Wetlands occupy 2.6% of the Park's territory, with a predominance in Limousin where the terrain is impermeable. But be careful, these environments are in decline with the abandonment of traditional practices and the creation of ponds.

Rivers and ponds

Water is omnipresent in the Park. At the head of three watersheds, many rivers have their source there. They are the ones that gave birth to the many wetlands, and which supply the majority of the territory's ponds and ponds.
