Stays around the Jumilhacois plateaus and valleys of the Isle

From Thiviers to Miallet, a day between gastronomy, walks and nature activities

On Saturday morning, go to Thiviers to take a look at the bustling market. For lunch, go to St-Jory-de-Chalais to take a break on the banks of the Côle, after having hiked the Sentier des Demoiselles.

For lunch, go for a picnic* at the edge of the Barde pond, near the Maison du parc, in the commune of La Coquille. You can then go on a family treasure hunt using the Terra Aventura geocaching game. Zécolo is hiding at the edge of the Barde pond, try to flush him out! (duration 1 hour)

End the afternoon by returning to Chalais for a walk with donkeys.

Discovering the natural, heritage and gastronomic riches of the park

Start with a hike from St-Pierre-de-Frugie, which will introduce you to the diversity of the park’s riches. Take advantage of it at the starting point to discover the Frugie Gardens. Very close to La Coquille, you can stop at a honey producer branded “Valeurs Parc naturel régional”.

Once the hike is over, head to Jumilhac-le-Grand to visit the castle and its gold-themed gardens. You can also try gold panning in the Isle (search for gold flakes) by reservation or discover the new family investigation game at the Gold Gallery: the keeper of the secret (duration 1 hour)

At the end of the day, join Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche for a visit to the town and its “famous” Collegiate Church; from the Marcognac site, an emblematic place for kaolin extraction, also the opportunity to discover regional specialties such as cul-noir pork or even Bijou madeleines.
