A day to boost the network of tourist offices
Following on from the 2025 initiative, the Regional Natural Park once again invited tourist offices and departmental tourism organizations to meet for an "Eductour" in the Périgord Nontronnais region on Tuesday, April 28th. This day, co-organized with the Périgord Nontronnais Tourist Office, brought together about fifteen people representing all the geographical and tourism sectors of the territory.
The Park's Eductour is the annual meeting of the Park with its tourist offices which allows both to create links and to discover or better understand the offer of the territory in order to better promote it.
The day began with the traditional " leaflet exchange "intended to supply the various tourist information offices for the season. Then the participants were invited on a walk along the Flow Vélo®, route which now connects Sarlat to the Ile d'Aix via Thiviers and Nontron.
This was an opportunity to discover the new facilities, because while initially there was 17 km of greenway between Thiviers and St-Pardoux-la-Rivière, today the extension has been completed as far as Javerlhac-et-la-Chapelle Saint-Robert via Nontron, making a total nearly 40 km on dedicated right-of-way, for greater user comfort.
New infrastructure has also emerged, notably the bike station Built thanks to participatory budgeting, the station is completely free and open to the public. It offers secure bicycle parking, tire changing and inflation equipment, repair stations with tools, electric battery charging points, and lockers with keypads for storing belongings and charging mobile phones. All these facilities operate autonomously, thanks to 12 solar panels coupled with batteries.
After lunch at the restaurant, a visit to the Micro-madness has been proposed. This digital museum concept Open to all free of charge, the park has already welcomed nearly 1000 people since its opening in October, primarily schoolchildren. Indeed, given its educational focus, workshops are organized for classes, linked to the year's theme. Schools working on the theme of Water as part of the Park Explorers program, for example, benefit from additional art-related activities connected to this theme. Participants were able to discover some of the resources (national, regional, and thematic collections) and experience virtual reality headsets to immerse themselves in the artworks and sites.
To end the day, the group made a brief stop at the Nontron cutlery, an emblematic place showcasing the expertise of Nontron cutlers.
The participants left delighted with this day of enriching exchanges and discoveries. They have already agreed to meet again next year in St-Yrieix-la-Perche to discover the new premises of the tourist office and much more…
