Renewal in sight

National news this month will be dominated by the municipal and community elections, which will determine the teams in charge for the next six or seven years. This will be followed by a renewal of the Park's decision-making bodies and its executive.

The Park, a project championed by local elected officials

The Park is administered by a joint association composed of several decision-making bodies.

While the implementation of actions is ensured by the Park's multidisciplinary team, the strategic directions are defined and championed by local elected officials. The joint committee constitutes the main decision-making body: it brings together representatives of the municipalities, groups of municipalities and gateway cities of the territory, as well as departmental and regional elected officials.

The union committee may delegate some of its powers to the union bureau, a smaller body responsible for managing day-to-day affairs and preparing resolutions submitted to the union committee. It is composed of 34 elected members of the union committee.

Finally, the executive board supports and advises the president on matters relating to the governance of the Park. The vice-presidents, members of this board, each chair a thematic committee and thus have a comprehensive view of the actions and challenges facing the territory.

Renewal of the governing bodies and operation of the joint association

Following the March 2026 elections, some of these decision-making bodies will be renewed to include the new Park delegates. In the spring, each municipality's council will elect one or more "Park delegates" to serve on the joint committee, and where applicable, on the joint committee and the executive board. The same process will apply in the six gateway cities and the relevant inter-municipal communities.

Furthermore, the new joint committee, scheduled to be installed in June, will elect the Park's president and first vice-president. Until then, the Park will continue its operations and ensure the continuity of its missions with the current team. The budget vote will therefore take place as planned on March 4th, at the joint committee meeting.

The coming months will therefore be marked by a renewal of the governing bodies. To support the newly elected delegates in taking up their duties, an information and discussion day is being planned.
