Description
In the communes of Piégut-Pluviers, Busserolles and Champniers-Reilhac, the Grolhier pond is one of the most remarkable ornithological sites in the region.
This pond of approximately 27 ha dates back, we are told, to the monks of Badeix, then vegetarians, who received authorization to consume fish in their daily diet. The graded roadway is made of cut granite stones.
Property of the National Foundation for the Protection of Wildlife and Their Habitats, the pond is managed by the Dordogne Departmental Hunting Federation.
