Description

A historic clay extraction site, the Lande à Serpentine de la Rousseille is today a protected natural environment, appearing on the list of remarkable natural sites of the CEN - Limousin. The old quarries have gradually given way to an exceptional natural environment with numerous fauna and flora particularities. Located on an outcrop of serpentine, it conceals specific environments: “scarred” lawns, boulders, mesophilic heath, humid woodlands. Presence of Black Doradilla, Four-cornered Heather, Dwarf Gorse, Delicate Pimpernel, Whorled Carum, Common Junipers… In spring, come and observe the flowering of the Jester Orchis and the Spring Scilla! The Friends of the Tuileries association promotes this environment by offering visits and workshops. The Serpentine Lande of La Rousseille is also accessible for self-guided tours.
