Description
Home of the Pérusses, great servants of the "royal administration" of the 14th and 17th centuries, the Château des Cars presents a singular profile. Indeed, archaeological discoveries reveal the splendor of the site during the Renaissance while the ruins show the adaptation of the architecture to the use of firearms during the wars of religion. Despite the revolutionary destruction, a set of remains made up mainly of two towers, pavilions, and magnificent stables decorated with frescoes, still remains accessible today. An exhibition combining plans, models, archaeological furniture and a lapidary collection allows you to understand the site at the height of its former splendor. Finally, a digital reconstruction of the castle and its surroundings allows you to virtually visit the site as it might have been at the beginning of the 17th century.
