Description
The cluzeaux of Saint-Pardoux-de-Mareuil belong to the category of cliff bottom cluzeaux, which are most often natural caves created by man since the Early Middle Ages. Everything suggests that a Christian religious community occupied these shelters in the first centuries AD. The characteristics of troglodyte structures are found at Saint-Pardoux: grain silos, water tanks, niches, shelves, troughs, etc. The existence of sarcophagi outside the site suggests the presence of a necropolis on the hill.
