Font Couvé Fountain in Champagnac la Rivière

Description

Font Couvé is one of the five “good fountains” of Champagnac La Rivière. The origin of the fountains is poorly known; they already existed in the early days of the evangelization of Limousin. The relationships between devotional fountains and the Catholic religion are at the heart of the subject. During the phase of Christianization and until the 13th century, the Church continued to fight for their disappearance. Having been unable to do so, the latter decided to appropriate them. A name was assigned to each of them, legends were created featuring the saint concerned to give a Christian framework to their origin. The origin of the fountain's name is not known. But it would have the virtue of curing rheumatism and gout.
