Guided tour of Brantôme

Description

The town of Brantôme developed in the shadow of its great abbey, but it will never stop freeing itself from it. It was Edward I of England who authorized Brantôme to appoint 8 consuls who would only report to the seneschal of Périgord. Taxes will be levied on goods transiting through Brantôme and the city will become an economic center over the years. The architecture of the houses bears witness to this evolution.
