Description
A must-see on the Richard the Lionheart Route, Nexon Castle now houses the town hall. Built in the 17th century in the Renaissance style, it remained the property of the Gay de Nexon family for 350 years. Its history is closely linked to horse breeding and racing: its stud farm, established in the 16th century, produced the first Anglo-Arabian thoroughbred, which propelled the family to the ranks of the greatest horse breeders of their time. In 1983, the municipality purchased the castle and its extensive 35-hectare estate.
The park and the surroundings of the castle are freely accessible all year round.
