During this hike, you will discover the soul of the Périgord Vert which was one of the cradles of the steel industry in France. The region's economic activity was essentially based on its forges! The Etouars forge manufactured cast iron and naval cannons for the Rochefort arsenal. It was a region whose economic activity was essentially based on its 140 forges! These forges manufactured cast iron, steel, cast iron objects such as pots and firebacks. They settle as close as possible to the natural resources used (iron ores: the mine; charcoal; waterways: hydraulic energy). In Etouars, on almost one hectare, an orchard of old varieties of pome fruits, available in several forms of plantation: tall stems, trellised forms, jouales, place for pleasant walks, also aims to be a privileged site.
