L'être de la Barde today welcomes the Périgord Limousin National Park on its banks: a corner of Canada in Périgord Limousin! The Park obtained its label on March 9, 1998. It includes 75 municipalities, extends over 1900km and two departments: Dordogne (43 municipalities) and Haute Vienne (32 municipalities). A natural and peaceful atmosphere for this tour of the pond a stone's throw from the highest point of the Dordogne. The territory of the Park has been the subject, since medieval times, of the creation of a myriad of artificial ponds, whether for fish production, water retention or more recently for leisure activities.
