200 kilometers through the landscapes of the PNR Périgord Limousin, in a country where the langue d'oc emerges at the same time as the granite, and recalls the beliefs, the legends which populate the chestnut forests...
This stage will take you from Saint Pierre de Frugie to Saint Saud Lacoussiere.
Route stages
Step 1 - From the gîte car park, take the road leading to the village center.
1- After a few meters in this flowery village, take the road on the left between the Town Hall and the old school. Then at the intersection turn right and take the second tarmac road on the left leading to Le Breuilh.
2 -At Le Breuilh, cross the place, still on the road, until you see on your right a dirt road leading to La Coquille. At the crow's feet take the dirt and grass path on the left (green markings). Pass near a medieval bridge and a mill.
Arrive at the La Barde pond, cross a wooden footbridge to then follow the pond to the PNR House. Then, at the end of the dirt road, at the intersection with the asphalt road, notice direction signs. All you have to do is follow the one leading to La Coquille.
3 - This leads to entering Sainte-Marie. Walk alongside the old convent until you see a green marker on your right that you must follow, taking you to a dirt road. Enter the woods.
At the end of this path, arrive at a place called Bonhur, where there is a beekeeper. Continue on this asphalt road until you reach the Nationale at the entrance to La Coquille.
Step 2 - At this intersection there are wooden direction signs; you just have to follow the one leading to Miallet. Cross the National road, and continue remaining on the small tarmac road until you take a small dirt road, always straight ahead.
4 -This path leads to the place called Fardoux. Arrive in the hamlet and at the crossroads, take the small road on the right. Take the first path on the right, at the end of the pond and go straight back towards “La Roussie”. Take the small road on the left until Curmont. At the intersection, take the road on the left for approximately 2,5km.
5 Take the path on the left to go down towards the pond and follow on the right to the bridge. Cross and turn left just after the bridge. Continue along the pond and turn right onto the Allée des Twelve Centenaries (reference to the oaks), at the dam. Follow the path to La Congenerie, turn left onto the tarmac road.
Follow this road until you see “Rue des platanes” on the right. Enter the village of Miallet.
Step 3 - At the end of the road arrive at a STOP. Turn left. Enter the town of Miallet. On the first square is the reception of the Cité Découverte Nature, as well as the call panel.
6 -Continue straight on Route de Nontron then take the “Chemin de Picard” on the left. At the sewage treatment plant turn left. Take a path which runs along a field on the left. Continue right.
7 -At the exit of the path arrive at a place called Les Parcs. Go straight on the asphalt road. Then turn right.
In a bend, take the link marked in green, direction “Saint-Saud”. On the left take a stone path and go alongside a bison park. Always continue on this path.
Arriving at houses, this is the place called Mouton. Take the asphalt road, then turn left at the garbage bins.
At the crossroads, turn right towards "Fontaine de la Goutte", and take a stone path.
8 -At the garbage bins, take the direction "Saint-Saud-Lacoussière", continue straight on the tarmac road, then take the path on the right. Three oak trees stand in a meadow.
On this path, notice the variety of trees present in the forests of Périgord-Limousin (pines, oaks, birches). Always continue on this path until the intersection with another path.
To turn left
9 -Cross the asphalt road, and continue straight towards "Puydoyeux" on the road.
Continue straight ahead following the “Saint-Saud” direction. Enter Puydoyeux.
Before the barn, on the descent, turn left onto a grass path. Continue on a small path in the fir forest.
At the end of the path, arrive on a tarmac road and notice the old mill. Continue left and follow the Dronne. At the STOP turn left onto the asphalt road, then go up, staying on this road for 500m.
10 – On the coast, at the “Maison Neuve” sign, turn left towards Le Puy. Take the grass path after the barn, on the right. go along the campsite and the ponds. End up on an asphalt road, arriving at Saint-Saud-Lacoussière.
