Tour of the Pouge pond

Discover the Natura 2000 site of the Etang de la Pouge and its ornithological observatory. You can take the discovery trail to learn everything about the fauna and flora of the pond. The trail will allow you to enjoy beautiful views.

Route stages

Step 1 - Follow the wide path on the right bank of the pond for 800 m before reaching the bird observatory then go back up into the woods.

Step 2 - At the fork, head right to join the RD58. Variant: follow the discovery trail on the left with explanatory signs about the site's treasures. Continue to the barn and join the main circuit. At the junction, turn right again and return to the starting point 500 m away.

Step 3 - Cross the RD58 and go left along the verges of this road. At the crossroads, continue straight on. 200 m further on, turn right to follow a wide dirt road lined with hedges and large oak trees.

Step 4 - Leave the Peyrade farm on the left, take the path opposite which goes down towards the Gorret and the tail of the pond. Take the footbridge then go back up following the tree-lined path.

Step 5 - At the road, turn right, then follow the road to Leycuras on the right. At the hamlet of La Besse, continue straight on the path. Turn left and take a small wooden footbridge. Follow the banks along the pond.

Step 6 - At the road, turn right, go over the dike. Cross part of the village of La Pouge and arrive at the road. At the crossroads, turn right and join the car park 150 m away on the right. Connection: to join the Saint-Auvent circuits, at the crossroads, go up the road on the left then turn right into the woods. Then go back down on the RD102, just before the Pont des Digues. Go up the road on the left for 500 m to find the routes.
