RESIDENCE SESSION 1
FIRST DAY OF RESIDENCE (FRIDAY MARCH 8, 2024 – NONTRON)
This day of welcome and presentation marks the beginning of a promising artistic adventure which will celebrate the meeting between artistic crafts, Occitan culture and the landscapes crossed by the “Great loop of the Park, Vaque veire”.
What are you, what are you gone!
It was around a coffee that the creators and initiators of this residence discovered each other, before theIPAMAC, the Park and the PEMA do not reveal the conditions and expectations. Jean-François Vignaud, representative of the ILimousin Institute of Occitan Studies (IEO) then shared its expertise on the emblematic characters of the Occitan universe present on tourist itineraries, offering creators a cultural immersion rich in inspiration for their future creations. Park agents in charge of tourism and natural heritage also presented the sites chosen for the implementation of these creations. This session allowed professionals to understand the specificities (materials, nature of the plots, fauna and flora present, etc.), the natural environment and the constraints of the sites in which their creations will be integrated.
At the end of the day, the craftsmen made a first pre-selection of the characters who could come to life, figuratively or abstractly, in their creations, thus allowing them to identify the chosen places before the next meeting which will be held at the end of the day. March. This step is crucial to harmonize their projects with the specific natural and cultural environment.
