RESIDENCE SESSION 4

FOURTH DAY OF RESIDENCY (TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 – FIRBEIX)

The artistic research residency that has brought together nine craft creators since March 2024 is coming to an end. The last collective day, marking the culmination of months of research in groups and in workshops, took place in Firbeix.

Fourth and final collective day of residency: the long-awaited moment!

The aim of the session was to finalize the projects and present them to the various project partners: the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park, the Experimental Center for Arts and Crafts of Nontron and Périgord Limousin, as well as IPAMAC.

Our artisans, sculptors, ceramists and stained glass artists have imagined ambitious creations which they have refined throughout the four work sessions.

During this last meeting, each creator presented their final project in the form of a complete file. These files, true showcases of the creations, include models, drawings, plans, as well as a detailed description of the materials and techniques used. The creators demonstrated great sensitivity in taking into account the specificities of the locations chosen for the installation of the works, as well as the technical and environmental constraints linked to such integration. Emphasis was also placed on the eco-design and sustainability of the projects, essential aspects in the context of the installation of the works on the "grande boucle, Vaque Veire!" circuit.

The discussions allowed for the final logistical and financial details required for the creation and installation of the works to be finalized. The creators presented samples of the chosen materials, estimated costs, and addressed issues of long-term maintenance of the creations, ensuring their sustainability on the itinerant route. This step allowed for the consolidation of the technical files that will serve as the basis for the official order of the works by the Park.

This last collective day of residency marks a crucial step towards the realization of the nine creations which will be integrated into the living heritage of Périgord-Limousin, in a subtle dialogue between nature, creation of artistic crafts and Occitan culture.

Just a little more patience, we will present them to you quickly now...

Towards an exhibition in spring 2025: tracing the creative process

The residency will culminate in an exhibition, scheduled for spring 2025. This will allow the general public to discover the behind the scenes of this unique project, from the first sketches to the formalization of the works. Visitors will thus be able to delve into the world of the creators, discover the thoughts that informed their work before traveling in a few months, the circuit "A la crotz daus chamins" where the works will be presented. This will symbolize the meeting of multiple paths, those of the artists, the know-how and the Occitan identity of the territory, to result in works which, while promoting Occitan culture, will invite hikers to a unique artistic and sensory experience along the "grande boucle, Vaque Veire!".
