A look back at the Park’s first summer university – 2023
On August 31, 2023, the Park's first summer university marked the territory's first step in the procedure for renewing its “Regional Natural Park” label.
The Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park has joined forces with Futurs-Act, a Regional Research Network focused on Anticipating Climate Change in Transitional Territories in New Aquitaine to offer a day dedicated to the challenges of the future.
The event, aimed at elected officials in the region, brought together more than 80 participants. On this occasion, representatives of the State and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, co-financers of the park and of this procedure, were present.
The objective was to have inspiring feedback from neighboring territories to feed the reflection of the actors of the Pnr Périgord-Limousin to write the next charter of the Park (2026-2041).
On the program: feedback, testimonies from elected officials and technicians from neighboring areas with insights from researchers.
The workshops followed a series of varied themes: agriculture and short circuits, water and climate change, mobility and rural territories, participatory governance, landscapes and preservation of natural spaces and adaptation of forests to climate change.
The 20 speakers shared their feedback:
- neighboring regional natural parks (Millevaches en Limousin Pnr, Landes de Gascogne Pnr, Aubrac Pnr, Grands Causses Pnr),
- neighboring communities (Gironde Departmental Council, the Limoges Métropole urban community),
- partner structures and river unions (Ademe, Vienne Basin Development Union, Bandiat, Tardoire and Bonnieure River Development Union),
- of researchers (Futurs ACT, Inrae, University of Limoges)
- of the French Biodiversity Office (OFB) and the Regional Chamber of Social and Solidarity Economy of Nouvelle-Aquitaine (CRESS)
This friendly meeting allowed for exchanges that we hope will be fruitful between researchers/technicians and elected officials and to officially launch the revision of the charter.
